Jeffrey S. Sherbow is the Principal concentrating his practice in all areas of litigation. His areas of expertise include all areas of civil litigation, family law, criminal law, intellectual property, copyright, trademark and employment law.
While Mr. Sherbow’s practice focus is primarily in litigation, he has considerable non-litigation experience, including counseling clients on domestic and international IP matters, negotiating and drafting a wide array of agreements, serving as a mediator for business and family related matters and providing counsel to domestic and international companies in primarily the medical, transportation, entertainment, human resources, internet, retail, e-commerce, hospitality and marketing industries.
Mr. Sherbow received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree from Monteith College, Wayne State University in 1972, a law degree from John Marshall Law School in 1975, and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1975. He has also been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District and Western District of Michigan, as well as before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Mr. Sherbow has tried cases in the District, Circuit and Federal Courts throughout the State of Michigan and in other States Pro Hac Vice.
Mr. Sherbow has taught classes at Walsh College on “Reducing Workers’ Compensation Costs”, as well as numerous other seminars regarding loss prevention by understanding the trial process for retail and wholesale clients, with an emphasis in litigation cost reduction.
Mr. Sherbow is a Wayne County Mediator, Michigan Defense Trial Counsel and the Association of Defense Trial Counsel. His State Bar of Michigan section memberships include Negligence law, Workers’ Compensation Law and Family Law.
Mr. Sherbow was formerly the elected Mayor of the City of Pleasant Ridge, Michigan for six years, serving three consecutive terms.
Additionally, Mr. Sherbow has been exclusive counsel in the State of Michigan for Walmart, in all venues of litigation, including premises, auto and labor. Mr. Sherbow continues to represent national clients with a high self insured retention level.
He has received numerous civic awards and is AV Rated (highest peer group recognition for lawyers) by Martindale.

Mr. Shimoura’s career as an attorney has spanned a wide variety of experience. He has worked for legal aid, staff counsel for two national insurance carriers, and was a partner at a major Detroit area law firm. Mr. Shimoura’s clients included several Fortune 500 companies, Georgia-Pacific, Chevron, New England Mutual Life and Federal Express. In addition to his regular law practice, he is general counsel to KCGI, LLC, a San Francisco based mercantile funding, capital management and advisory services group. Also, Mr. Shimoura is general counsel and secretary to the board of directors for VTX Technology, a technology holding company.
He has acted as the counsel to OEM automotive suppliers to the Big Three Manufactures. Mr. Shimoura was a member of the Board of Directors of US Voicemail, the largest independent provider of voice mail services in the Ameritech region, and involved in raising capital for the company. He has also been involved with capital formation in mining, food services, biotechnology and high tech.
As a registered player agent with the PGA Tour, he represents Shigeki Maruyama and Hidemichi Tanaka. Mr. Shimoura is the US director for HAL Sports Production (Tokyo), the largest golf player management group in Japan.
Among his numerous civic and political activities, Mr. Shimoura was involved in the national Democratic Presidential campaigns in 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000. He advised the Clinton Presidential transition organization in 1992-93, and was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, where he served as a commissioner from 1993 to 2001.
Additionally, he has participated as a board member of commissions and advisory panels for the Governor of the State of Michigan, State Bar of Michigan Judicial Qualification Committee, Senator Carl Levin, and numerous non-profit organizations. He was a member of the finance committee for Senator Levin from 1984 to 2000.
Mr. Shimoura holds a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University, with honors, in Political Science (1975) and earned his Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University (Detroit, MI), School of Law (1978). His practice concentrates on business and commercial matters, and has been an attorney for 35 years.

Matthew S. Wood is a partner whose practice includes all areas of litigation. His particular expertise covers intellectual property, general civil, trademark, copyright, family law, contract, entertainment, as well as business and criminal litigation.
While Mr. Wood’s practice focus is primarily in litigation, he has considerable non-litigation experience, including counseling clients on domestic and international IP matters, preparing and prosecuting trademark applications, managing domestic and international trademark portfolios, counseling marquee professional athletes, negotiating and drafting a wide array of agreements and providing counsel to domestic and international companies in primarily the transportation, entertainment, internet, e-commerce, retail, hospitality and marketing industries.
Mr. Wood graduated from Western Michigan University where he majored in Marketing and minored in Philosophy. He graduated, magna cum laude, from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School where he received the highest class grade in Business Organizations, Constitutional Law I and II, Contracts II, Evidence, Taxation and Trial Skills. He has also been admitted to practice in the State of Michigan and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Mr. Wood has litigated cases in the District, Circuit and Federal Courts throughout the State of Michigan and in other States Pro Hac Vice.
Mr. Wood strives to make a positive impact on the local community. As a result, he volunteers his time with local charities such as the Boys and Girls Club and the Michigan Bulldogs Youth Athletic Association. Mr. Wood has served as a chair for the Oakland County Bar Association New Lawyers’ Committee. He is also a member of the State of Michigan Bar Association, Oakland County Bar Association and was appointed by the Royal Oak city commission to be a member of the Royal Oak Crime Prevention Council and Animal Shelter Committee. Mr. Wood was the recipient of the Oakland County Bar Association Bonnie Beutler Outstanding New Lawyer award and has been recognized by Thomas Reuters as a rising star.
